Get Reel future plans

It has been decided not to run Get Reel classes from the term beginning September 2012. This is following recent Committee Meetings and serious discussions about the future of Get Reel.

At the moment Get Reel is in deficit. The reason this has come about is that not enough people are coming to our classes to ensure sustainability. So, despite an initial feeling that the best course of action would be to dissolve as a Charity, the committee proposed that we take a breather from running the classes instead.

It was, therefore, decided to continue as Get Reel ‘the brand’ until the end of the financial year in December but not run classes from the term beginning September 2012. The hope is this will enable us to reinvigorate the club, deal with the financial situation by attempting to sell off some of our instruments and give us time to decide in which direction we want to go.

It was also decided that from September 2012 we should concentrate our efforts on running another St Andrews night event in association with the Tolbooth and organise some workshop days.

For members who wish to continue with their tuition, it was suggested that tutors could be booked by groups of people independently and tuition sessions run in private homes.

I would like to thank you all for your contribution over the years and your support in all our events. As you will read we hope to continue to have these in partnership with the Tolbooth and others.

We do very much hope to continue the Get Reel brand in some way. Ideas are currently for lesson and groupwork days in venues like the barn, member’s homes and hopefully the new Killearn Village Hall once it is completed.
